Research Project- Artefacts

Artefact One
This advert has been created to question “the ways in which drink driving advertisements are effective through different communication tools and techniques”. I have mainly focused on the topic of Gender within drink driving advertisements, as I have previously stated the most interesting fact about my dissertation was that women drink driving convictions have constantly been rising since the 1950’s and that men are still targeted in adverts.


I am holding a focus group on Monday and will upload the feedback.

I am currently editing on each of the individual adverts and looking at music, images and layout.

Client Project- Nivea Adverts

All of last week and this week I have been shooting all 4 of my different roles for my 4 adverts I have filmed 5 girls, I had my last girl secluded for tomorrow but she has had to move the date to two weeks time which is fine as I will need to film my 3rd artefact then, I have filmed more girls than I need to give me a variety of edits to work with and to see who best suits the role and who acts it to its full potential.

Research Project- Artefacts

I have filmed my first artefact and am showing it tomorrow with a slide show presentation I have created, along with questionnaires I have printed off to be filled in at my tutorial using them as a focus group.

I have filmed my second artefact two days ago and put together an edit, I went back and filmed again today to give myself more variety of shots, angles and people and I am happy with the footage I have got and plan to edit this in the next 2 weeks while brainstorming ideas for my third artefact.

Nivea Adverts

With my plans for the Nivea adverts I am getting each woman to perform the following 4 roles:

  • Miss Confident
  • Miss Seductive
  • Miss Laid-back
  • Miss Lust

My Nivea adverts began on Saturday which went well, Rosie was excellent with each of the roles.

Drink Driving Artefact One

Today I went out to capture a variety of women to say particular words I have noted down and I successfully filmed 29 different ladies, I am filming my last part tomorrow with a friend off the course who is a man, it is looking very promising so far, but I wont give it all away just yet.

Artifact 1

After working with certain objects to create an ad using a metaphor to show my results, I feel I am limiting myself and what I am using is not going to let me experiment to my full potential, I have changed my idea completely with the inspiration of Godley and Creme- Cry video


I am planning to use a variety of people to show my results in a twist.

Artifact 1- Drink Driving- Metaphor to show facts- PILLS

I have been experimenting with the text for my short ad, I think it is very clever how it gives a sense of liquid as pills is a form of a drug like alcohol so I was thinking of using pills to show facts but with the use of Photoshop the liquid effect can give it a better understanding:

Artefacts for Research Document-

Plans for first artefact are progressing, I learnt from my dissertation that with Drink Driving women convictions has gradually got higher but adverts are still targeting men so I thought it would be interesting to make a factual ad where I would show the ad to a focus group of women and men separately to establish if different genders need different adverts to communicate the same message.
